Charity Christmas Geek Dinner

By Rosie Sherry • Dec 11th, 2007 • Category: Community, Events

The 28th of November saw a collaboration of the girl geeks and the guy geeks to bring one big Charity Christmas Geek Dinner.

Rather than repeat things too much, I thought it would better to link to a few write ups that have been written by myself, Simon & Winky.

The Geek Dinners are always a bit nerve racking (for me at least!) with each one being so different and never quite knowing how good the speaker or food is going to be. The Christmas Geek Dinner was the biggest one yet and people actually had to (and did!) pay for the tickets (previous events have been free to attend). The tickets covered the cost of the event and the money from the sponsors (Cubeworks, Spannerworks, Driven Systems & Madgex) more or less went to charity. In total, £828.78 was raised for The Chestnut Treehouse.

The night itself was great fun with a great lighted talk from Aral, great OHSO venue, lovely food and great conversation.

For me it was important to make people see that the local tech community can come together to do some good for others.

Till the next Christmas Geek Dinner!
