A Bright(on) start to 2008
By Rosie Sherry • Jan 7th, 2008 • Category: Community, Education, EventsAt the end of 2007 there was no doubt that the technology community had gone social. There have even been some predictions there will be a social burnout. However, only 7 days into the new year and there is so much to talk about already! Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming up:
- Farm Web Freelancers Networking - one of the consistent and longest running events is The Brighton Farm. Every, yes every week! (apart from over the Christmas holidays) web folk meet up in a local pub.
- *New* Open Coworking Fridays - The Werks is a creative office & coworking space and ideal location for events. It is very new and they have been kind (and smart) enough to offer their space for free On Fridays. It’s a great way to try the location out and meet some local people. (I’ll be going!)
- *New* Video Screening - International Videoblog Posting Month at The Werks - FREE UK Screening of Highlights from NAVLOPOMO 2007. In November 2007, dozens of international videobloggers and artists made a film every day for 30 days. The result: over 1000 beautiful, intimate, funny, experimental, observational, moving, interconnected short films.
- *New* Geek Yoga - Yoga for everyone who spends too much time at a desk and in front of a computer.
- *New* Open Beer with Linden Labs - The wonderful creators of Second Life are offering a chance to meet the Lindens and get to know what they are up to. Free beer, yay!
- The guys at ClearLeft are running two one day workshops this month - CSS Mastery and Bulletproof Ajax.
- Open Juice Brighton - A regular meeting for people interested in conversations about creative business, startups and technology.
- Brighton Girl Geek Lunch - an informal lunch for people interested in technology in central Brighton. Guys are always welcome.
- Freshen Up Your Writing for Beginners & Professionals from Authentic Blogging.
- OpenCoffeeSussex - 17th of January - details to be confirmed.
Lots of new ‘n’ old - a great start to the new year!
