Project Brighton

The Werks recently opened their doors to people interested in working or using space in a creative & supportive environment. The community has been crying out for this for a while and it’s really encouraging to see something like this to start.

Why does The Werks work?

I attended their Open Beer launch event and a recent Friday Co-working session and have to say I was quite impressed, here’s why:

• it’s big (several floors and over 4,000 sq ft)
• it’s not in central Brighton, but more like central Hove, but actually it’s a really nice location and easy to get to.
• The Werks are flexible with their spaces for (coworking, deskspace, offices, art/creative space). It really is *nice* to know that there are now more options than just hiring a deskspace. Their pricing plans appear to be just as flexible too!
• it’s great to work along side people, over hear conversations, see if anyone is any good at making coffee and have the occasional chat with the added benefit that you don’t work together on the same project (ie. there’s no reason to get stressed out with each other!).
• there’s lots of space, so plenty of places to have a quiet call or perhaps move to another area.
• it’s not about cramming as many desks in as possible, it can be used for workshops (or should I say ‘werkshops’), exhibitions, events, etc.
• it’s not just for office folk - the top floor is a dedicated art area and I’m guessing there will be art related exhibitions, workshops and events.
